  1. A swift is any fast-flying, short-legged BIRD 
  2. of the family Apodidae, of which there are 
  3. about 75 species, found largely in the 
  4. tropics. They are 9-23cm (4-11inches) long, 
  5. with brown or grey plumage, long, pointed 
  6. wings, and usually a forked tail. They are 
  7. capable of flying about 110kph (70mph).
